Raiders Should be Investigated by the NFL if they Acquire Tom Brady

If the current head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders, former Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, and current GM Dave Ziegler, former Patriots talent scout, acquire Tom Brady to the Raiders, the organization should be investigated by the NFL.

It's downright criminal that they would bench Derek Carr, a far and away more than an above average quarterback, unless they have some sort of backdoor dealing to either acquire Tom Brady, or even Aaron Rodgers. Why else would you bench a quarterback like Derek Carr for Jared Stidham under the guise of, “we need to see what we have in him.”?

Well, I know what you have in him. How does he not know, he's been a guy who's played in no other system for the last four years than this one? Stidham is a backup Qb at best and the outcome was no different than Derek Carr’s first year in the system. If Brady and Rodgers weren’t in the running, he’d be the best Qb available in the NFL Draft or free agency.

I am not saying they’ve done anything wrong YET. In fact, I dont’t think he will go to the Raiders, but if he does, It’s fair to question the situation because nothing explains the benching of Carr and parting ways with him. He could force their hand by forcing them to cut him at a time where there are several teams that need a Qb with his pedigree. How asinine is that?  If you got rid of Derek Carr, who are you going to get unless you, Josh McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler, both former Patriots, think, or already know Tom Brady is coming to save them. That should warrant major suspicions and lead the Raiders to be investigated by the NFL.

Now Derek hasn’t been a part of a winning organization to be able to win. Let’s not forget what he did with a team that was in complete disarray. Not just the team but the organizations from top to bottom. Last year he took the team to their first playoff game since 2016. He did it with an interim head coach because the head Coach turned out to be a major racist, the lost a second year receiver who was part of a horrific drunk driving accident that resulted in the death of a young woman, Tina Tintor, rest in peace. This season he was missing his tight end, Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow for more than half the season. He barely had all his weapons on the field together since they acquired Davante Adams.

If Derek Carr was playing for the Niners, or he had Andy Reid as a head coach, Derek Carr would be a Super Bowl winner. The guy has had no consistency in leadership, management, players, or systems. Carr was leading that organization on his back for almost a decade. He’s been the only consistent thing about the Raiders AND clearly the only one “Committed to Excellence”, the organizations supposed mantra.

His coaches, the owner and GM have always and will be the real problem with the Raiders. The Raiders do one thing right and then take 10 steps back. Davante Adams is another example. A Hall of Fame player for sure and is one of my favorite players to ever play the game, but who’s going to throw him the ball, Jimmy G??

You go and get Carr’s buddy and then you bench him? I don’t feel bad for Carr the dude makes millions, but I know what it feels like for an organization to dump you when you’ve been nothing but loyal and made them tons of money. And right when you think you’ll get some stability you get scapegoated, just like him.

Tom Brady can't save Josh McDaniels on this team unless they really fix the offensive line.

Josh McDaniels claimed, “Brady will bring a culture change to the locker room”. Well, what the hell are they paying you for? Aren’t you the head coach? Aren’t you supposed to create the change? Just because Tom has been a winner, doesn’t mean he will always be able to replicate 3 years ago let alone 5 or 6 or 10. Tom couldn’t make Tampa better this year by himself and the winning culture that was in place after they won a few years ago. Tom can’t turn the Raiders around in 1 year. Had Carr stayed, the team and coach would have had the 1 year together and you build upon that. Consistency can only help. Now McDaniels and the remaining players must start all over again.

We know about Tom let’s face it, he’s above the law and will do whatever it takes to win, and you have two other men connected to the same team that’s been linked to multiple cheating scandals or weird rule bending antics.

Funny enough, from 2009 to 2011 the years McDaniels wasn’t with Pats, there weren’t any types of cheating scandals or odd incidents of “bending the rules” for the New England Patriots.

There were few incidents that were technically not cheating and more like bending the rules. There was the infamous tuck rule incident, that sent the Raiders home in 2001 AFC divisional playoff game in 2001. The Patriots didn’t do anything wrong, but they were on the right side of a major controversial call that would eventually be abolished in 2013.

  • In 2009, as head coach for the Denver Broncos, Josh McDaniels, he went 8-8.  That's a losing season.

  • In 2010, he didn't even last the season. He got fired week 13 another losing season.

  • In 2011, as the offensive coordinator for the Saint Louis Rams, the team won three games. It’s not all on him but he was the offensive coordinator on a team with a losing season.

  • In 2007, there was Spy Gate. New England was caught stealing hand signals during a 2007 regular season game against The Jets. You read me correctly, the Jets. Why would the Patriots and Bill Belichick need to steal signals from The Jets? Video assistant Matt Estrella’s camera and films were seized by NFL security staff. The same week the team admitted to wrongdoing. the NFL also found handwritten diagrams of Steelers defensive signals at New England headquarters. These notes were used in the 2001 AFC Championship game won by the Patriots, 24-17, according to ESPN at the time. No one was suspended but fines were handed down to the organization, to Bill Belichick, and took a loss of draft pick the following year.

  • In 2014, there was allegations the Patriots falsified their injury report designations. Linebacker Brandon Spikes and cornerback Akib Talib alleged they received false injury designations during their time in New England.

  • In 2014, when he got back with the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game, Deflate Gate scandal begins.

  • In 2015, the first game of the season, the Steelers headset malfunctioned during a game against the Patriots in Foxboro. This led to accusations of intentional sabotage from the Pittsburgh camp Steelers. Coaches afterwards indicated their sound was muffled by the New England radio broadcast which impaired communication. This is not the first time a team had been suspicious of the Patriots messing with their equipment at Gillette Stadium but since the game was on prime time and in the middle of the Deflate Gate saga it drew added attention.

  • In 2019, there was the Bengals video scandal. On December 8th, 2019, a week before New England’s matchup with the Bengals, a Patriots staffer was found in the press box of the Bengals Browns game taking video that reportedly included extended shots of the Cincinnati sideline, The Patriots said the production crew was there to shoot a day in the life feature of an advanced scout for their “Do Your Job” series. They conceded they inappropriately filmed the field and did not inform the Bengals nor the NFL ahead of time about their plans.

This is where the current GM Ziegler factors in. A few key words here, they were doing this under the umbrella of scouting. That would fall right into the timeline of now current Raider’s GM Dave Ziegler spent in the scouting department.

I’m simply laying out the facts and following the trends. There’s a lot of breadcrumbs that lead down to Cheater’s Street. Acquiring Tom Brady is not only cheating, but it would also be extremely lazy and un-creative. Which is how I perceive him to be. He’s not a winner without Brady or Bill B. He’s trying to force players in his system instead of building around them. Consistency is a big reason why most teams don’t win.

The least you can do is run it back with the same players and see what happens after a year of experience in the system. If Brady came, McDaniels would be like fantasy players, who still drafted Josh Gordon for the last 4 years any time his name is mentioned. He would be clinging to a player for what he did in the past in a completely different situation. So many different factors are at play now. We are talking everything from the offensive line, the defense and who was the actual coach of the team. It wasn’t McDaniels. It was Bill B. McDaniels only had to worry about the OC plays.

Tom’s age is a major factor. He’s no spring chicken. In football years, he’s a QB-SAURUS. He’s not a dinosaur in age but in the way the game is played today, he’s a fossil.

Is he still smart? Yes. Can he still throw? Of course he can, but he is not mobile whatsoever. He also doesn't want to get hit. That’s the real secret to his longevity in the league. It’s not because he doesn’t eat cheeseburgers or avocado ice cream. He must get the ball out quick, so he doesn’t get popped. In today’s game, you must be able to move around or out of the pocket if need be. He’s so immobile, his rushing props have been set at -.5 rushing yds, or .5 rushing yards. That pretty much sums it up.

Those who know me or read my work last year, I proclaimed the “Qb cheat code” for running Qb’s is not a cheat code, long before the 2022 season started. Qb’s who throw first and can escape the pocket if necessary are the one’s you want. Not the constricted Qb’s such as Brady and not the run heavy first Qb’s such as Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray. You want the Qb with both traits like combining a red and blue Slurpee, or two different flavored ice cream. I warned you about Lamar Jackson and even more so, Kyler Murray.

They both got hurt and I’m not taking a victory lap, but the analysis showed a high possibility for this outcome. Their lack of passing abilities and the heavy reliance of their feet, makes them more susceptible to getting hurt. Just because I predicted the higher possibility of getting injured doesn’t meant that I wanted them to get hurt. I just use my eyes to actually watch the players and follow the trends,

Tom Brady is completely on the other side of the spectrum. He can’t lead a team to a championship title anymore. All the necessary tools needed to play today’s game are disappearing in his superhero utility belt.

The only team Tom can play for that’s in a win now mode, is hands down the San Francisco 49’ers. That’s it. They have the coaching staff, the defense, enough stud play makers to fill an Amazon warehouse and most importantly, one of the best offensive lines to keep him upright. This is the only ready to win now team set up for his skill set at this point. The Jets are also a possibility and would be the ultimate flex move, but I’m not sure how he feels playing with young guys such as Garett Wilson, Breece Hall and Elijah Moore.

Tom Brady should take his broadcasting money and look at this as a new challenge to overcome. He’s got nothing left to prove in football. Eventually his wins will keep him in football conversations forever to the point where people will forget others played the game and stories about Tom Brady will morph into “he was so good he threw a touchdown to himself”, but what most will remember if he comes to the Raiders will be akin to watching your favorite artist in their senior year at their Las Vegas residency, images of their greatness melted down to painted memories.

I don’t believe he will go to the Raiders. I believe Aaron Rodgers will. So, need to, “Call in the dogs” as Montgomery Burns would say. But if for some crazy reason he does, questions should be raised, and the NFL needs to investigate considering most of the parties involved and their checkered past.
